I have NEVER used a dishwasher, and I never will (I use my current dishwasher for storage).

I mean, just how dirty are your dishes? Handwashing in hot water is plenty sufficient

Dishwashers used to work great. They don't anymore because they are made in China. Handwashing in hot water is not actually sufficient -- it doesn't kill germs. You have to soak in very hot water for a while to kill germs. Or soak in bleach water or better yet, chlorine dioxide water.

had a new townhouse in 2000s -- nothing but problems, including dish washer flooded entire first floor twice, air conditioner leaks, sprinkler recall, etc (all within the first year) builder did come back and replaced the floor and carpet. In next house (old), ever since, washed dishes by hand. good exercise too.

Will try bleach when washing high risk such as items used by raw meat and order ClO2 kit.
