I understand your thought process. If you drink 6 liters of RO (reverse osmosis) water, it can strip all your minerals, and you could die if you drank it in a short amount of time. Again, sorry, but I disagree 10000% that water softeners are evil beasts that must be slain. Hear me out, this is because you are not doing it properly. Water softeners are crucial to remove calcium carbonate, which causes health problems like hair falling out, feeds mold, and exacerbates eczema. According to Geovital, a company that conducts military environmental surveys, calcium carbonate is the number one problem in environmental foodstuffs. Adding it to bread would have gotten your hands chopped off before it was legalized in the UK and mandated into UK flour. So, all you need to do is add some maifan stones and some Celtic sea salt into your water before drinking it to replenish the essential minerals. If you want fulvic eat shillajit powder its cheap

Add 1/4 teaspoon (1.5 grams) of Celtic sea salt to a gallon (3.8 liters) of water.

Stir the water until the salt is fully dissolved.

Taste the water to ensure it's to your liking. If you prefer a slightly saltier taste, you can gradually add more salt, but do so in small increments (e.g., 1/8 teaspoon or 0.75 grams at a time).

also you can use a supersaturated salt solution in a 500 ml jar as mixes quicker

Add Celtic sea salt to the 500 ml jar filled with water until no more salt can dissolve. This typically requires about 1.5 to 1.6 cups (350-380 grams) of salt.

Stir vigorously until the maximum amount of salt is dissolved, and some undissolved salt remains at the bottom of the jar then add to taste we put 1.4 tea spoons in 20 liters of RO water and increment until it is barely noticable

There is a water softener at my new house- but it hasn’t worked since we got here. I suppose fixing it isn’t a priority.

We have a well. We need to get our water tested.

Well water is good -- better than municipal -- but yes, get it tested.
